ORDERING
When you place an order with us, providing the goods are in stock, we endeavour to despatch them within 48 hours. If the model is out of stock, since virtually all eyewear is sent from Italy and takes up to five days, we can generally fulfill most orders within a seven day period.
Once you place an order, you will receive a confirmation e-mail showing the full details of your order. If the item is not in stock we will advise you when it will be available.
As a UK registered optician, we sell only genuine designer products to which all the normal warranties and guarantees apply. We are an authorised dealer for the brands we supply. We only sell brands we consider to be the strongest and at the forefront of eyewear design. If you do not see the model you wish to purchase on this site, please e-mail us at info@eyemechanics.co.uk and we will endeavour to supply it.
ORDERING - PRESCRIPTION LENSES
1. When you place your order we will e-mail you to acknowledge receipt of order.
2. When ordering you must provide us with a copy of your prescription. Your prescription must have been given to you by a registered medical practitioner or an ophthalmic optician and must be less than two years old.
3. We will use the details from the prescription that you give us to produce the lenses for your glasses.
4. If you are unsure of your prescription details, please let us know and we can discuss them with you. We have fully qualified ophthalmic and dispensing opticians so we can advise you.
5. Your eye test is unlikely to have your pupillary distance ‘PD’ (the measurement between your pupils) on it. If it does not, we recommend that you have it measured by an ophthalmic optician or a registered medical practitioner. If you don’t supply us with your actual PD, we will use an average PD, as recommended by qualified opticians, to manufacture your lenses. We will use a PD measurement of 60mm for reading lenses and 63mm for distance lenses and bifocals.
6. We won’t accept any orders for:
- Progressive lens or varifocals.
- Lenses of 8 dioptres or over, or lenses where the sphere value added to the cylindrical value is 8 dioptres or over.
7. You must be 18 or older, and not registered blind or partially sighted, to order from us.
8. You have 7 days from the date you order the goods to cancel your order, but as you will appreciate this right does not apply once we have started to manufacture lenses to your prescription, or fit lenses for you. In this instance, we will only refund the cost of the frame and not the lenses. A £20 administration charge will apply to any such refunds. You must advise us in writing, by e-mail straight away if you would like to cancel your order.
9. We reserve the right to cancel your order at any time and to refund any payments you have made.
Prescription lenses and optical frames, once glazed, are made to your own specification and cannot be returned or exchanged unless shown to be faulty or incorrect.
For prescription orders please allow 7 working days. Generally we will complete orders inside of this, but please use as a guide to avoid disappointment
PRICES AND PAYMENT
We accept the following credit and debit cards for payment via the Barclaycard secure site - Visa, Mastercard, Switch, Solo and JCB. We do not accept American Express. We will debit your credit/debit card when we receive your order. If we are unable to supply the goods to you we will let you know and refund the same card.
If you do not wish to pay online we can take a credit/debit card payment over the phone.
Our prices include VAT.
DELIVERY
All our prices include delivery by Royal Mail 1st class recorded post, which means the item will need to be signed for on receipt. If you need guaranteed delivery by the next working day, then you can opt for Special Delivery at an extra cost of £4.99. We can only deliver to the registered address of the credit/debit card used.
When you receive your order, the goods become your property. Please inspect your glasses carefully and in the unlikely event that there is any damage please contact us immediately.
Any date stated by us for delivery is an estimate, but we will try our utmost to deliver by that date to avoid disappointment.
If for some reason you don't accept delivery, and this isn’t our fault, then we may have to charge you for any reasonable extra costs we incur.
CONDITIONS OF RETURNS
We value you as a customer and it is important to us that you are completely satisfied with each purchase. Your consumer purchase through Eye Mechanics Online is covered by the Distance Selling Regulations. Business purchases are NOT covered by the Distance Selling Regulations. This means that you are able to return the product to us within 7 days from the date you receive your order without giving us a reason.
Please e-mail us at info@eyemechanics.co.uk to let us know you wish to return your purchase. Please explain the reason for the return. Be sure to include your name and address and contact details (telephone and e-mail).
1. If you simply change your mind and wish to return your purchase, for undamaged items they must be in the original box with all original packing materials and any other materials that came with the item. The product must be received in ORIGINAL, RESTOCKABLE CONDITION. We reserve the right to apply up to the full replacement cost of the item if it is returned damaged as a result of improper packing. Please pack properly! We will gladly credit the credit/debit card used at purchase, minus any shipping or handling charges. A standard handling fee of £20 will be levied against goods returned that are found not to be faulty. Eye Mechanics Online has a 7 day return policy from the date that you sign for your goods.
Please note: All sunglasses returned, for whatever reason, must have the security tag attached by string to the nose bridge still fixed to the sunglasses. This can only be removed by cutting the string and doing so will invalidate any refund entitlement.
2. If you find that any portion of your purchase has been damaged in shipment, please notify us by e-mail at info@eyemechanics.co.uk, or by phone on 01252 717717, within 48 hours of receipt so that we can order a replacement. You should begin the process of returning the damaged merchandise within 5 days of notifying Eye Mechanics Online. Damaged merchandise presented for return must be accompanied by a copy of the original shipment receipt. Please take precautions against additional damage to the merchandise you are returning. For damaged items being returned, the packing policy above also applies to prevent further damage.
When shipping any merchandise back to us, please use Royal Mail 1st Class recorded post. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions concerning the return.

3. If the contents of the package is not what you ordered and was due to an error of ours (i.e. - we accidentally sent the wrong merchandise), please accept our apologies. We will accept full responsibility for re-shipping the right product to you. Just follow the directions for returning the product. We will send out the correct merchandise by Special Delivery and you will not be charged for postage.
REFUND
Your refund will be credited to your original credit/debit card within 48 hours
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
We will only be liable for any direct loss up to the maximum total of the goods or services purchased, except in the case of death or personal injury resulting from our negligence, where our liability would be without limit.
We don’t accept liability for any consequential or incidental damages that arise out of or are related to the purchase of goods or services from this web site.
RIGHTS TO TRANSFER THE CONTRACT
This contract is personal to you. You must not transfer it or any of part of it without our written permission.
We may subcontract or assign the contract or some part of it to another company, firm, or person.
PROTECTION OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA
We value your privacy and observe the code of practice covering the use of personal data as detailed in the Data Protection Act 1998. We will never share your details with third parties.
GOVERNING LAW
These terms and conditions of sale will be subject to English Law and the English courts will have jurisdiction in respect of any dispute arising from this contract.
